Experiments in Tracing the Boundaries of a Bulb I
00017
A single LED bulb wrapped in packed air packaging bags, like the ones found sparsely and sometimes ceremoniously filling the voids within the cardboard boxes used to ship some consumer goods. The bags were inflated to spend a couple of days occupying the box as a side character, and to live a life no longer than that. Intended to be deflated and discarded upon arrival. Here, the bags, perhaps, serve more dutifully in their role.
Like how the glass protects the delicate filament within the bulb, the glass too is now protected with a series of layers of air bags. The boundary of the bulb spreads and extends into its puffed plastic armor; the radiance of the filament diffuses first through the glass and then through the plastic containing the air, blurring the boundaries.
The tightness of the packaging is suffocating perhaps, but the bulb is safe. It is protected. But this is not forever, it wears false armor. Invariably the air will slowly seep out of the thin protective bags, deflating them, causing them to sag and expose the delicate and illuminating heart to, once again, all that can shatter it.
