Maybe it's better used as a reminder. When the light is on, it's a testament to the benefits of being upbeat while maintaining emotional distance, or perhaps it resembles the uneasy expression of holding a slight and fading smile while staring into the middle distance. However, when it's turned off and the illumination is gone, we relax as it relaxes, reminding us that we can put down the masks that helped get us through the day. And maybe this light is best placed within our homes, and maybe we never switch it on.
