A metal wire skeleton depicting the bamboo frame of an Akari 37D pendant lamp. It has no shade, it is just the outline of the form. The aluminum steel wire, with its silvery quality, resembles graphite. It's just a pencil sketch of a lamp, but in three dimensions. The lines are loose and imprecise, retaining the imperfections trembling through the hands that formed the wires, the hands that drew the marks. The trepidations, anxieties, and whimsies captured in the wavy wires makes the light, like all drawings, an abstract portrait of its maker in addition to the drawing itself. An artifact of a relationship between a body and an image in its mind.

When the lamp is illuminating, the wires cast shadows onto the surrounding walls. The lamp draws lines itself. Sharp and precise ones on the surfaces nearby, dulled and blurry on the lines that reach the distant corners of the space. Within the form, the light from the bulb refracts off of the inside of metal wires, echoing and harmonizing the luminosity of the bulb. Outside the form, the wires are eclipsed, blacker than the shadows, and drawing in the darkness of the room onto the external surface of the lamp.
